Imam Yama Niazi
Imam Yama, the Founder and Director of Blessed Tree, is committed to engaging with Muslim youth across the United States and Canada.
With a wealth of experience, he previously served as the Dean of Faculty and lead instructor for the youth curriculum at SeekersGuidance Global Academy. There, he taught online courses in Islamic sciences to both youth and adults. He has studied privately for a number of years under several scholars, focusing on subjects like Aqida, Fiqh, Tasawwuf, Sira, and other sciences.
Imam Yama's passion for working with youth developed during his tenure as Imam of the Islamic Society of Santa Barbara. He worked closely with the MSA at UCSB, taught children in the community, and served as a guest speaker at religious and non-faith based organizations and educational institutions. His primary goal is to provide Muslim youth with a strong foundation in Islamic principles and spiritual purification. He aims to guide them in strengthening their faith and understanding their Muslim identities while navigating the challenges of living in the West. Currently, Imam Yama resides in Canada where he leads local prayers and classes, while also teaching online serving the global community through Blessed Tree.
Shaykh Dawood B. Trevelyan
Shaykh Dawood B. Trevelyan embraced Islam in 1998 at the hands of the esteemed Shaykh Maulana Isma’il Waadi Naqshbandi Saahib, Rahmatullahi ‘Alayhi. He began his studies under local Ulama, most notably Shaykh Ibrahim Osi-Efa and Shaykh Haroon Hanif. He then traveled to Syria where he spent five years studying Arabic, Sarf, Nahwa, Mantiq, Balagha, Hanafi Fiqh, Usool, Aqeedah, Tasawwuf, Hadith, and Tafsir at the prestigious Mahd al Noor & Mahd Fath al Islami. He then traveled to Jordan and Turkey to further his studies in various fields and holds Ijaazaat in various sciences. Shaykh Dawood has studied under the tutelage of Shaykh Hassan Al-Hindy, Shaykh Muhammad Jumuah, Shaykh Abdur-Rahman Ghawsh, Shaykh Mahmood Dahla, Shaykh Khalid Al-Kharasa, Shaykh Samir An-Nass, Shaykh Umar Nashuqati, Shaykh Muwaffaq Al-Murabi’, Shaykh Muhammad Bisam Hijazi, Shaykh Muhammad Shukayr, Shaykh Ahmad Yusuf Dubanah Zada, Shaykh Abdul-Malik As-Saa’di, Shaykh Firas Shaheen, Shaykh Muhammad Anas Al-Siba’I, Shaykh Muhammad Abu Ghawsh, Shaykh Abdur-Rahman Idrisi, and Shaykh Ali Khadhr.
Shaykh Dawood is the founding director of the Shaykh Al-Akbar Muhyud-Deen ibn Arabi Institute for Language, Fiqh, Mantiq, and other sciences.
Ustadh Dirie
Ustadh Dirie is a distinguished educator specializing in Arabic, Tafsir, and Hadith. His academic journey began in 2009 when he ventured to Yemen to commence his studies in Arabic and Quran. His pursuit of knowledge led him to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where he enrolled at the prestigious Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud Islamic University.
Ustadh Dirie's academic accomplishments include a two-year Arabic certificate program, followed by a one-year diploma in Arabic and Islamic studies. He furthered his education by earning a Bachelor's degree in Islamic Law (Sharia) from the same institution, graduating with an exceptional grade of 'mumtaz' (excellent).
In addition to his formal education, Ustadh Dirie has had the privilege of learning from various scholars in Al-Ahsa and other locations. Since his return to Toronto in late 2021, Ustadh Dirie has dedicated his time to serving the community. He teaches Arabic and provides education to the youth at various mosques. He is also the esteemed founder of Mafaz.
Outside of his professional commitments, Ustadh Dirie has a keen interest in coffee and technology. His hobbies reflect his passion for continuous learning and his appreciation for the simple pleasures in life.
